There's a lot of apoplexy on the "Right" (I use quotes because we know they're not) about the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (aka "the Stim"). "Socialism!" they cry, and Sean Hannity's brain goblin damn near jumps out of his skull every weeknight at 9pm. You'd almost feel bad for the guy if he wasn't such an unapologetic jagoff.
Well I've got an idea, follow me below the fold.
Republicans, conservatives and those on the "Right" can't stand the thought of someone being helped by government services. And we all know why; government is inefficient, wasteful, coddles the poor and punishes those who make a success of "themselves" (for we all know that no one who has ever had financial success has ever benifited from any socialist program, ever). But RNC Chairman Michael Steele has illuminated a new reality we hadn't ever thought of: government jobs aren't actually jobs. Really? So my dad, who spent the past 35 years at USDA, has actually been unemployed my entire life? Does this mean that he can't retire?
Well obviously, the Stim - written, evidently, by a crazed Socialist chimpanzee - has raised the hackles of conservative Neo-McCarthyte attack dogs once again. It stands to reason then that Republican governors, legislators and citizens would prefer not to take part in the further socialization of America. But why stop there? As a service to our Republican brothers and sisters, lets start a list services they can and should avoid to allow themselves to live a purely capitalist lifestyle. I'll start with some obvious examples, and you can fill in some more in the comments. Maybe some I missed or some you know about through work you do or benefits you receive. We can take this list and email it to the likes of Sean Hannity. Think they'll change their minds and stop the idiotic rants about the evil socialist bogeyman? Sure...
